I had the pleasure of talking queer books with the good folks at This Queer Book Saved My Life. My book is the strange, savage, and devastatingly romantic Nightwood by Djuna Barnes.

This is not a feel-good book. It grapples with identity, sex, love, psychology, science, war in a rapidly transforming society matched by its lavish and layered prose. Nightwood spoke to me at a time when I was unable to define my own lavish and layered feelings, let alone figure out how to fit them into the world around me.
